Labour in a Fragmented Electoral Reality: How Do We Lead the Progressive Majority?
Date: Sunday 27th September
Time: 4.15pm – 5.45pm
Venue: The Clubhouse, Ropewalks Hotel, 42 Seel Street, Liverpool, L1 4AU.
Description:
With the old Labour-Tory two-party system fragmenting into a two-bloc multi-party order across the entirety of Britain, there are big questions to be asked about how Labour behaves in this new world. Five parties are polling in double figures – with six in Scotland and Wales – and voter bases are stretching, leading to ground being lost in different directions to different parties in different parts of the country.
With talks of pacts, pluralism and splits, how does Labour use its historical base to lead the progressive majority in a multi-party system? What are the areas of agreement and what are the red lines we must hold firm on? And how do we govern with consensus without losing what it means to be Labour?
Please note you do not need a conference pass to attend this event.
