Defeating the Tories on 4th July is necessary, but not enough. We must take on our rotten electoral system.

First Past the Post isn’t just undemocratic. It promotes a confrontational, short-termist politics that prevents us from forging ahead with the transformative solutions that our age of perma-crisis demands. It repeatedly hands the Tories power without the consent of the country, giving them free rein to trash our public services, poison our planet and divide our communities.

That’s why Compass is fighting to change the government and the system, and why Kent Compass is campaigning to elect progressives explicitly committed to championing Proportional Representation if elected.

We’re working to elect Helen Whitehead in Herne Bay & Sandwich, and Mike Martin in Tunbridge Wells – both of them are best-placed to beat the Tories, and advocates of a new democracy.
