City of London Compass Public Meeting: Tackling Child Poverty

Golden Lane Campus, 101 Whitecross Street, London, EC1Y 8JA GB

Progressives of all parties and none are warmly invited to attend City of London Compass’ first public meeting at 7pm on 27th January.

The meeting will discuss child poverty both nationally and around the City of London, and what is necessary to tackle it in our community.

The discussion will be opened by Baroness Ruth Lister, former Director of the Child Poverty Action Group and author of the Compass reportĀ The Good Society Starts Small, which argues for a radical set of new policies to alleviate the epidemic of child poverty in this country.

Representatives of local organisations will be invited to speak about current challenges they experience in our neighbourhood.

There will then be a discussion about establishing a local Compass group to take forward a cross-party progressive alliance.

Compass is founded on the belief that no single issue, organisation or political party can achieve an equal, democratic and sustainable future by themselves, and therefore to create a collaborative space for progressive people, ideas and politics.
