UKIP is leading a charge to a horrible place where people are treated as less than human and depressingly, Labour appears to have joined the ‘immigration arms race’.

We can’t help the accident of where we are born and progressives should be saying loud and clear that the cause of people’s anxiety is bankers not Bulgarians.

Compass is one of the few organisations that can fight back on this. We will say loudly that we should treat each other as human beings and get to the root cause of people’s fears and anxieties – low wages, insecure jobs, expensive homes, and lack of good public services.

In concrete terms we want to develop a guide to changing the political conversation around immigration. We’ll then empower our local groups to host workshops where we develop the confidence and strength of the progressive voice in the media and in communities.
