Well, we have made progress. The Post Office is to get a dollop of £1,280 million Government (ie. our) money to provide new financial services and to improve financial inclusion through credit unions and weekly budget plans.

Results of a YouGov poll commissioned by Compass has shown clear majorities support government intervention to bring all sides together in the ongoing postal dispute.

Yesterday the government published its plan to part privatise Royal Mail. The Bill was based on the report by Richard Hooper published in December called ‘Modernisation or Decline'. Today Compass offers a thorough critique of that report and therefore its recommendation that Royal Mail needs to be part privatised with a counter-report entitled Case Not Made.

Today the government has published controversial legislation to privatise Royal Mail: this is an urgent call to recruit new supporters to help us stop this, please take action now by urging at least 5 people to join our supporters list.

When Lord Mandelson stands up later today to deliver what will probably be a terminal body blow to an already weakened Royal Mail, it will be a tale of two deficits.

This afternoon, in Central Hall, Westminster, the Keep the Post Public rally against the government's plans to part-privatise the postal service took place.  The turnout for the event was excellent, as expected, and the speakers delivered a fantastic array of speeches, offering fellow union support, criticising the free-market tendencies of the New Labour government and joining together in vocal opposition to the sell-off of our public services.
