Meeting of Merseyside Compass on the EU referendum

Quaker Meeting House, 22 School Lane, Liverpool, L1 3BT

We will have tea/coffee/biscuits available for members from 6.30 and will start the meeting at 7pm.

Cynthia Dereli will be giving us a 30 minute presentation on TTIP to be followed by Kevin Peel (Labour Alliance for Europe) for 30 minutes on the national, regional and local imperatives for remaining in the EU with special reference to the financial benefits that the Liverpool City Region has enjoyed in the past, at the present time and into the future from the EU. This will be followed by questions and a discussion from the floor for 45 minutes.

Members may also be interested in the following information from the WEA (Workers’ Educational Association) about the EU debate:

The European referendum decision is such an important one; we all need good information to help us make up our minds. So the WEA is organising 2 related programmes during March in which you might be interested.

1) There will be a programme of meetings that starts on 1 March and runs through to Tuesday 19 April. All sessions from 6.00-9.00pm. No class on 29 March (Easter week). There will be an eighth session to which we will invite course participants, their friends and the general public to meet their MEPs to discuss their questions and research projects (date tba).

2) On 16 March there will be a separate Talk-Shop event on Europe and the referendum.
