This event organised by Cllr Pippa Goldfinger in Frome is sold out, but there will be recordings of the speakers and discussion and follow-up meetings.

The EU referendum has left many of us feeling directionless and hopeless. What does it mean for our country? How do we heal some of the huge divides that have opened up? Where do we go from here?

Those who led the ‘Leave’ campaign have jumped ship and Labour is fracturing. National politics is a confusing mess. If we want a democracy that listens and responds, that puts people in control, is it time to form alliances, build bridges and work together for a new way?

Could we fight a general election with a progressive alliance? What would it look like and what steps do we need to take? Sticking with old party allegiances can’t deliver a more equal, democratic society so let’s start talking and take action.

We’ve organised an initial meeting in Frome on 22 July to kickstart this debate. We have Caroline Lucas, MP for Brighton and Hove, the Guardian journalist John Harris and will confirm other speakers as soon as possible.

We will be recording the speakers and debate and we will organise follow up meetings, so even if you can’t be there on the night you can still join us.
